Your Farm Team
Dom is the English Gentleman behind the Farmer. With his British-isms he's bound to charm your socks off, on or off the field. There is no time like tea time, even in the mid-summer heat and that is why he is The Gentleman Farmer.
Dom is the mastermind behind our growing season including choosing the crops, planning the succession plantings, figuring out crop rotation and inventing ways to keep the deer from eating our lettuces. He's the one to go to for practical questions regarding how we're farming.
In his former life Dominic was a world traveller, spending over five years backpacking and sailing throughout Europe, the Mediterranean, Caribbean, North America, Asia and Australia. From crewing yachts in the South of France to picking bananas in Australia, Dom adds a global perspective to The Gentleman Farmer. He holds a diploma in Drama from The Bridge Theater Training School in London and spent ten years acting on stage, television and film. He still brings home some of the bacon with voice over work here in Chicago.
In his spare time Dom follows what we call Soccer, what he calls Football, religiously and can be found supporting his team Portsmouth despite their relegation to the English Championship (boooo!). He's also Dad (a very good one) to his sons Henry and Oliver.
Jess is the other half of The Gentleman Farmer.
While Dominic is putting in the manual farm labor up in Barrington, Jess continues to hold down the fort back in Chicago with their two children Henry and Oliver. Jess is your contact at The Gentleman Farmer. She will be your go to gal for any questions, requests or suggestions you may have and is happy to hear them!
In a former life, Jess received a BFA in Dance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (its quite clear, in retrospect, that farming initially rooted itself in her subconscious here) and an MA in Arts Criticism from City University London.
Both Jess and Dom have a passion for all things travel and spend time in the off season taking their brood to discover the world.
